Itinerary

Litchfield National Park is approximately an hour’s drive from Darwin City and offers visitors the chance to experience stunning natural landscapes, including monsoon rainforests, waterfalls, and natural plunge pools.

During the trip, there will be a stop at Adelaide River, where you can participate in the Jumping Crocodile Cruise or visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre. This centre, located on the traditional lands of the Limilngan-Wulna people, is managed and maintained by them. It is home to many native birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles.

We visit century-old monolithic Magnetic Termite Mounds, known as some of the largest in the Top End region. During our trip, we also make stops at Litchfield’s natural plunge pools, spas, and whirlpools, such as Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls, where we can take a break to swim.

We visit Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls, known for their impressive cascades and breathtaking beauty carved into the steep rocky escarpment.

Discover the diverse beauty of the Northern Territory on our one-day excursion to Litchfield National Park.

For thousands of years, the lands have been significant for the Koongurrukun, Marranguggu, Werat, and Warray Aboriginal people. The diverse terrain presents pristine rockpools, flowing waterfalls, and a sanctuary for native birds and other Australian wildlife, making it a photographer’s paradise.

During this Litchfield day tour, participants will experience the park’s highlights, including iconic natural sites and historic landscapes, with opportunities for recreation and relaxation in exquisite water pools.

The floodplains of the Adelaide River are home to a diverse range of bird species from around the globe, along with Black Flying Foxes and Bull Sharks. The water system is also known for its Saltwater Crocodiles, which we encounter on our cruises.

The experience of observing these apex predators up close in their natural habitat is unforgettable, and the spectacle of the crocodile propelling itself out of the water with its powerful tail is captivating.

Visitors can skip the cruise on our tours of Litchfield National Park if they have already experienced it. Instead, you can join your guide to explore the nearby Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve.

If you choose not to go on the Crocodile Cruise, you can join your guide for a scenic walk in this pristine habitat. There are many opportunities to see rare birds, water pythons, and freshwater turtles. It is also possible to encounter crocodiles in this wetland system.

The sandstone plateau of the Tabletop Range creates breathtaking tropical waterfalls. To reach the swimming hole at Florence Falls, visitors descend 160 steps, or they can enjoy the view of Tolmer Falls from a high vantage point.

The monsoon rainforest surrounding these falls provides a distinct tropical backdrop, accessible via a picturesque trail offering captivating views of this verdant paradise.

Tour schedules might adjust in response to seasonal conditions, leading to temporary closures or swimming restrictions in certain park areas. The well-being of our visitors is our foremost concern. We meticulously organize our excursions in Litchfield to ensure they are delightful and unforgettable.

At the Buley Rockholes, set amidst charming bushland, swimmers find various tiers for bathing and unwinding. These waters are celebrated for their pristine quality, and in some areas, the vigorous flow offers a natural water massage.

Another option for guests is the renowned plunge pool at the foot of Wangi Falls, encircled by exquisite natural scenery, providing a cool respite during the park exploration.

Tour schedules are subject to alteration based on seasonal factors. Occasionally, access to specific park areas may be restricted, or swimming may be prohibited. The safety of our guests is our primary focus, and we plan our tours to ensure they have the most pleasant and ideal experience on Darwin Litchfield excursions.

Humans are not the only ones who have invented ingenious methods to stay calm. We take a moment to admire the intriguing natural phenomenon of the Magnetic Termite Mounds.

Discover the fascinating architectural prowess of insects as they construct towering homes that offer great photo opportunities. Stroll through the formations and unravel the hidden science behind their intricate construction.
