Itinerary

Join us for a remarkable experience, Darwin’s renowned Jumping Croc Cruise, a half-day adventure on the Adelaide River. This unique opportunity allows you to encounter some of the globe’s most formidable and combative wild predators up close.

Setting off from Darwin city, our journey takes us about 60km southeast to the Marrakai wetlands. This area is a haven for biodiversity, boasting over 280 varieties of indigenous birds and 117 types of reptiles, including the notorious king of predators, the saltwater crocodile.

In Australia’s Top End, over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles inhabit the regions primarily around Darwin, Mary River, and the Adelaide River. Therefore, sightings of these majestic creatures are virtually certain throughout your day in the Northern Territory’s natural water bodies.

The saltwater crocodile is the world’s largest reptile and is among the most ancient creatures on Earth, tracing back to the era of dinosaurs. These ancient giants can reach lengths of up to 6 meters (akin to a small bus) and weigh up to 1000kg. A legendary local crocodile, endearingly named ‘Sweetheart,’ became known near the Adelaide River for its antics of removing motors from fishermen’s boats and stealing cattle from nearby farms. Sadly, Sweetheart passed away in 1979 but remains preserved through taxidermy at the Darwin Museum.

Our team is fully licensed with Wildlife Permits from the National Parks and Wildlife to ensure that our wildlife interactions are conducted without harming animals.

Total Driving Distance: 120 km.
