Explore the Ovens River with River Tribe Adventures in Autumn 2017. Kayak from Tarrawingee, Everton or Billabongs depending on how far you want to paddle, how much time you have and how much adventure you want to experience. Paddle for Picnic is great for couples and groups who want to enjoy local cheese and wine. The overnight camp kayak experience is perfect at this time of year, not too hot or cold! Billabongs, Tarrawingee and Everton kayak launch points offer lots or variety and distances – take a fishing rod a picnic and relax into nature.

River Tribe Adventures has an extensive bike hire fleet, luggage trailers and bolt on services to help you build an adventure along the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. If you want an easier time let River Tribe do the planning and bookings and select the Cycle Hotel Package. Alternatively go more adventurous and select the Cycle Camp package, here you can be outdoors 24/7 and cyle and camp your way through the stunning landscapes of the High country. River Tribe provides bikes, camping equipment, luggage trailer and transfers.

PADDLE FOR PICNIC - OVENS RIVER

Time Allowed: No restrictions here, enjoy the river and get back before the bats come out
Distance: 7-8km and at an average pace a 1-2 hour paddle time + picnic and leisure time
Departure Times: 11:30am (alternative times may be available)
Grade: Easy and suitable for all abilities – check the river conditions for more information
For: Everyone. From 5 and up, children can share a kayak with with Mum or Dad

There are plenty of picnic spots to choose from on this spectacular river with many beaches, gentle grassy banks and little river offshoots. You can take your time finding the best spot before throwing the picnic blanket down, enjoying a Milawa Cheese platter with biscuits, grapes, nuts and a cheeky glass of Brown Brothers Prosecco.
This heart-warming adventure is very relaxing and takes you away from the crowds. Guests fully relax into an easy and relaxing river pace, eat a picnic and in winter, autumn or spring light a fire and toast a few marshmallows. After your picnic enjoy a slow paddle down the River as it gently eases you along past many little nooks of habitat.

The kayak route traverses one of the best sections of the Ovens River with its rich flora and fauna, amazing river vistas and a real feeling that you are far away from the crowds and immersed in the native Australian landscape.
